Jonathan Lowe still hopes to be a part of Alabama's team
Jonathan Lowe still wants to be a part of Alabama's football team despite not being included on the team's 105-man preseason camp roster.
The initial exclusion was a "miscommunication" stemming from the fact that Lowe, a walk-on senior tailback and kick return specialist, returned to his hometown of Phenix City to work a summer job, according to his father and former Tide player Eddie Lowe.
"Hopefully, he's expecting to be on the team," Eddie Lowe said.
Jonathan is still enrolled at UA and is four classes shy of graduating, his father said. The younger Lowe worked with a personal trainer during the offseason with intentions of staying on the team. He traveled back to Tuscaloosa on Thursday, but did not practice Friday since he wasn't listed on the 105-man roster.
It now appears Lowe will report Aug. 20 with Alabama's additional walk-on players at the start of fall semester.
A transfer from Mississippi State, Lowe joined Alabama's team on the late report date last season while finishing necessary class work. He was a consistent contributor for the Crimson Tide, however, playing in 10 games and rushing for 99 yards.
He was sixth on the Tide in all-purpose yards with 446, including 277 on kickoff returns.
